Canterbury Care
£40,000 yield to date
The team behind Canterbury and Akari Care Groups have an enviable track record in management within the care home industry. Recognising the benefit of a review of water costs across the combined estate of 50 properties, they received recommendation from colleagues of the services of Water Management Solutions (UK) Ltd (WMS), a specialist with considerable experience in water billing analysis, cost recovery, leak detection and conservation covering a wide variety of both public and private sector organisations throughout the UK.
Following instruction, WMS initiated their review in April 2013. The structured analysis utilised billing and site data to reveal any incorrect charges, and highlighted potential issues with tariffs and consumption levels at certain sites. WMS then submitted claims against the incorrect charges and in conjunction with the Property Services team and the sites in question, completed engineering surveys and co-ordinated the investigations.
WMS’s expertise proved invaluable, delivering rebates and savings from 4 different water companies across a range of tariff structures. Their site profiling and benchmarking exercise demonstrated a clear understanding of water usage on the sites, identifying the potential for leakage, and managing the detection and repair process.
The holistic approach of WMS has also promoted the value of water conservation, identifying meter locations to allow regular checks and highlighting the opportunity for flow regulation through tighter specifications, and delivered a further annual saving through negotiating and switching water supply companies for the group’s Scottish sites.
“We have been thoroughly impressed with the total service package provided by WMS. Not only do they just get on with it, they keep all relevant parties fully updated with developments. Their knowledge of the water sector and its idiosyncrasies is second to none. We would not hesitate in recommending them”
Tim Robinson, Commercial Manager, Akari Care, Canterbury Care

Hywel Dda Health Board
£21,000 Savings
Water Management Solutions installed a range of water saving devices to many of our larger sites throughout the Health Board.
The Health Board specified that the payback period had to be 36 months to match similar requirements of corporate businesses. The success of the CP961 means that this was achieved in the first 12 months.
Total cost savings of £21,460/year
Annual water consumption reduced by up to 8,100m3
Water-related cost savings of £17,626/year
Energy-related cost savings of £3,834/year
Installation was completed over a period of approx 18 months with West Wales General Hospital being the first.
All work was undertaken efficiently by WMS UK personnel without complaints from staff & minimal disruption to services.

Priory Group
"not insignificant returns"
As part of a comprehensive review of environmental performance, Priory Group wished to assess their expenditure and consumption of water. With a growing estate covering the country and served by almost every water company, we were recommended to the company Water Management Solutions (UK) Ltd (WMS), a specialist with considerable experience in water billing analysis, cost recovery, and conservation.
Their experience covers a wide variety of both public and private sector organisations throughout the UK, including healthcare and education which has proved essential in the
understanding of our business.
We agreed a fixed percentage incentive based on a "no win, no fee" in order to retain their services.
Following the initial instruction in November 2010, WMS initiated their Water Management Process. This structured analysis utilised billing and site data to reveal any incorrect charges, and highlighted potential issues with tariffs and consumption levels at certain sites. WMS
then submitted claims against the incorrect charges and in conjunction with the estates team and the sites in question, co-ordinated the investigations. WMS's expertise has proved invaluable, negotiating with water companies to deliver
rebates and also to mitigate back charges. Their ongoing site profiling and benchmarking exercise has demonstrated a clear understanding of water usage on our sites, been able to
identify the potential for leakage, and through managing the detection and repair process in coordination with our estates teams' has delivered further rebates and on-going savings.
To date I have been very impressed with their professionalism, efficiency and their ability to achieve such not insignificant returns and on-going savings for the Priory Group. This has proved a very worthwhile exercise for Priory Group during our period of rapid growth, and
as such I would have no hesitation in recommending this company and its services.

Wellburn Care
"a very
worthwhile exercise"
As part of a comprehensive review of operating costs and environmental performance,
Wellburn Care Homes wished to assess their expenditure and consumption of water. With an estate of 16 properties served by three water companies, we were recommended to the company Water Management Solutions (UK) Ltd (WMS), a specialist with considerable experience in water billing analysis, cost recovery, and conservation.
Their experience covers a wide variety of both public and private sector organisations throughout the UK, including health care, which has proved essential in the understanding of our business.
We agreed a fixed percentage incentive based on a "no win, no fee" in order to retain their services.
Following the initial instruction in February this year, WMS initiated their Water Management Process. This structured analysis utilised billing and site data to reveal any
incorrect charges, and highlight potential issues with tariffs and consumption levels at our sites. These were then investigated with WMS liaising with the sites concerned, and
surveying where necessary.
The review revealed all the fixed charges were correct, and the site profiling and benchmarking exercise, which demonstrated a clear understanding of water usage on our
sites, found only minor scope for improvement in usage and processes. Recommendations for these were covered in the review of their work.
WMS have been thoroughly professional, completing their review quickly and efficiently. It is very pleasing to know we are managing our water costs and usage well, and their
feedback has provided an opportunity to tighten our control still further. This has proved a very worthwhile exercise for Wellburn Care Homes, and as such, I would have no hesitation in recommending this company and its services.
